The Best 4th Grade Field Trip in America

Did you know that if you have a 4th grader in your family, your whole vehicle can get into national parks completely free?

It’s true. Thanks to the Every Kid Outdoors program, every 4th grader in the United States can claim a free annual pass to public lands. That pass covers entrance fees for the whole family at national parks and hundreds of other federally managed sites.

And the best part? The program happens every year. Each new class of 4th graders gets their own chance to explore America’s public lands.

A group of people wearing helmets and backpacks hike along a textured, sloping sandstone trail under a clear blue sky.

What Is the Every Kid Outdoors Pass?

Each school year, the program gives all U.S. 4th graders a free pass to lands managed by agencies like the National Park Service, U.S. Forest Service, and Bureau of Land Management. That means families can explore incredible places like:

All thanks to one adventurous 9- or 10-year-old.

Why This Matters to Us

At All Ways Adventure, we believe the outdoors should be accessible, welcoming, and empowering for everyone.

Programs like Every Kid Outdoors remove one of the biggest barriers to experiencing public lands: the cost of entry. We love that idea. The outdoors belongs to all of us, and the earlier kids experience it, the more likely they are to care about protecting it.

So we decided to match that energy.

Our Way of Celebrating 4th Graders

If you are planning a trip to Zion National Park this year, we want to help you celebrate.

When you book any Family Adventure with All Ways Adventure, your 4th grader joins the adventure for FREE when at least two other people book.

No crowded tour groups. No rigid schedules.

We specialize in private, custom-tailored adventures designed around your family. Whether you want to move slowly, challenge yourselves, bring young kids along, or introduce grandparents to the desert for the first time, we shape the day around your group.

That means your family could spend the day:

  • Learning the ropes of canyoneering
  • Descending your first rappel
  • Exploring hidden desert landscapes
  • Hiking through slot canyons
  • Riding deep into the backcountry in a 4WD vehicle

In other words: the ultimate 4th grade field trip.

“But… Is It Safe?”

We hear that question a lot, especially from parents.

The short answer: yes.

Safety is the foundation of everything we do at All Ways Adventure.

Our guides aren’t seasonal hires learning on the job. They are career outdoor professionals with deep backcountry experience and extensive technical training. Many have spent years guiding, rescuing, teaching, and exploring in desert environments like those surrounding Zion National Park.

Just as importantly, we hire guides who feel less like instructors and more like long-lost friends who happen to be incredible in the wilderness. They know how to read the landscape, manage risk, teach skills clearly, and create an environment where everyone feels confident and supported.

Adventures for All Ages and Abilities

Another thing we care deeply about: inclusion.

Adventure should not be limited to elite athletes or youthful first timers (that means (grand)parents are welcome, too!). Our private format allows us to adapt each day to the people in front of us.

That means our adventures can work for:

  • Families with young kids
  • First-time rappellers
  • Multi-generational groups
  • Guests who want to move at a relaxed pace
  • Guests looking for a bigger challenge

Whether someone in your group is 4 or 104, we focus on creating an experience where everyone feels capable, safe, and part of the adventure.

How to Claim the Deal

Step 1: Claim your child’s free pass through the Every Kid Outdoors program.

Step 2: Book a private Family Adventure with All Ways Adventure.

Step 3: Use the promo code EVERYKID at checkout and your 4th grader joins the adventure for $0.

Planning Ahead

Private family guides around Zion National Park tend to fill up quickly once spring break and summer travel begin. If Zion is on your family’s list this year, it’s worth grabbing your 4th grader’s pass and locking in your dates early.

Because when a 9-year-old can get the whole family into a national park for free, you might as well let them lead the adventure.
