Behind the Scenes: How We’re Prepping for Your Zion Canyoneering Spring Break
There’s a specific kind of quiet intensity that settles over us just before the season kicks off. As I sit down to write this, I’m reflecting on our recent Guide Training week, and I wanted to pull back the curtain a bit. If you’re planning a Southern Utah adventure, you’re likely seeing the polished photos, but here’s what’s happening behind the scenes to make those moments happen.

The first week of March was our official Guide Training. It’s the time of year when we get back to basics and push ourselves to ensure we are the best Zion guides in the desert. We spent our time practicing high-angle rescue skills and technical vehicle recovery; while we hope to never need to use these skills on our trips, we always plan to be overprepared.
We took our guides on new location training to Water Canyon, our newest addition to our canyoneering and hiking quiver. We’re constantly pushing to keep our off-the-beaten-path Zion hikes fresh and exclusive with the addition of new areas. We also finalized all our commercial permits and authorizations and confirmed that every single member of our team has their backcountry medical training up to date.

The Zion off-road tours rigs are now sparkling clean, and the "squeaks and clunks" have been (mostly) sorted out. Our backpacks are stocked with fresh supplies, and we are gearing up for a very busy spring break.
If you’re not on our schedule yet, don’t waste any time! While our summer availability is much more open, we are dead set on giving our guests a knockout season with a very full schedule this spring—so don’t wait!
A Few Thoughts on Planning Your Trip
As you look at Zion National Park tours, I have a few "insider" tips to help you get the most out of your time:
- The Human Connection: While all our private Zion tours can be booked entirely online, we are very friendly people who know this area like the back of our hands. Please, give us a call! We love to advise you on your whole itinerary and how our Kanab outdoor adventures fit into your larger puzzle.
- The "Two-Day" Secret: If you really want to experience Zion canyoneering, consider booking more than one day. We’ve found that two half-days yield much more than one full day. It gives you the chance to settle into what you've learned, build confidence through repetition, and get that all-important sleep between sessions. By the end of day two, you’ll be looking at real estate (I have literally done this at the tail end of a multiday trip)—you’ll walk away thinking about moving to Kanab.
- Read the Details:
Once you book, please read your confirmation email. It is packed with helpful information on how to prepare so you can make the absolute best of your private canyoneering Zion experience.

Why we Love the "Middle of Everywhere"
One last tip: strongly consider lodging in Kanab. It is much more affordable than staying right at the park gates, and while it feels quiet, we aren't the middle of nowhere—we are the middle of everywhere. From a base in Kanab, you are perfectly positioned for day trips to Bryce, Zion, the Grand Canyon, and Lake Powell.
We’ve done the training, the gear is ready, and the canyons are calling. We can't wait to show you why we love this place.
