Vermilion Cliffs: South Coyote Buttes Hike

Coyote Buttes South is one of the most remote and visually wild places we go. It’s part of Vermilion Cliffs National Monument and only accessible by permit. We hold a commercial guiding permit for the area, but our guests still need to secure an individual permit through the BLM’s lottery system—either in advance or through the daily last-minute draw. We’re happy to help walk you through that process. Once you're permitted, we’ll take care of the rest.

The landscape out there is unreal—striped domes, delicate fins, and swirling sandstone that looks like it was sculpted by water and wind over lifetimes. With far fewer visitors than the Wave, Coyote Buttes South offers a rare kind of quiet and solitude. This is a full-day, private tour with 4WD access and plenty of time to explore. Whether you're in it for the photography, the geology, or just the joy of being somewhere truly wild, this one’s hard to beat.
